Pest Control
Explore pest control in plain English, with practical context, common distinctions and questions to ask before work starts.
Start with the entries below. They are part of a growing reference library, not an exhaustive technical specification or a substitute for specialist assessment.
- Getting into pest control
- Pest control investigates the cause and extent of a problem and selects appropriate prevention and control measures. It is not simply applying the strongest available chemical. A trainee needs identification, site-assessment and reporting skills alongside safe use of authorised products or devices where justified.
- Integrated pest management
- Integrated pest management combines inspection, prevention, monitoring and proportionate treatment to control pests. It addresses why pests are present rather than relying only on repeated chemical treatment.
